Increasing PC Performance

A lot of computer users would ask me: How do I increase the speed of my computer?

There are several easy steps that everyone can do.

First, make sure your computer is free of viruses and spyware, this is by the way the first reason your computer is running slow. Here are the programs I recommend using: Malwarebytes, Ad-Aware from Lavasoft, SpyBot and Destroy and free Anti-Virus software from AVG. All of these programs are free to use for home user. If there is any malware or virus present on your computer, no matter what you will do your computer will be running slow.

Second, is to reduce the number of programs running in the background. These programs are usually loaded at the start of the operating system. The best way to check which programs are running go to Start/Run and type msconfig and click OK or hit Enter. This will start System Configuration program where you can click on Startup tab and see all running programs. At this screen you can uncheck some programs. Make sure you know each programs before unchecking.

Third, run Disk Defragmenter which you can access going to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. This process might take a while depending on your hard drive size and how badly your files were defragmented.

Forth, download Advance System Care (free) program, run the updates at prompt and run it. This program will clean up your registry, clean temporary files (junk files and folders) and even suggest fixing OS and Internet Explorer issues.
